Blogging on CeBIT

The return of BloggerZone to CeBIT Australia in upcoming 2009 expo means that bloggers will again be given the same exhibition show floor facilities as mainstream media. In fact, the BloggerZone has been described accurately as “Just like the Media Centre – but with more comfortable chairs.” BloggerZone will be located besides the main Media Lounge in Hall 3. Bloggers are welcome to use the facilities for blogging at CeBIT Australia 2009.

BloggerZone at CeBIT

CeBIT Australia is the only trade event with space dedicated to bloggers. It is located at Hall 3 in Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. During the show you can find here eight computers, where you can update your blog and chat to other bloggers. “The blogger community is a growing and valuable information source, especially within the ICT industry,” Ms Taranto said. “Our investment in both the physical space and digital platform last year made us the first trade event in the country to give bloggers the same kind of facilities as mainstream journos – and it worked.”

One of my favorite blogger is George Megalogenis who lives in Melbourne and he is a senior writer for The Australian newspaper. He is also known from ABC TV political analysis program called Insiders, where a panel discusses recent events in Australian politics. George has spent eleven years in the Canberra Press Gallery. He grew up in a migrant worker family and his insights are clear, verifiable, and unbiased.

Niche Blogging

Niche blogging is defined as creating a blog with the intent of using it to market to a particular niche market. Popularity of niche blogging keeps growing. By using services such as Blogger, Wordpress, LiveJournal and many others niche bloggers can quickly and easily create a blog. In this way, the marketer can determine the viability of the selected niche before making a large investment of time and money. Niche blogs are sometimes referred to as splogs, but mostly it is not justified. Even though the desired end result for the niche blogger is to make money, the niche blog itself often contains valuable information. Most pay-per-click advertising is content-sensitive, so it is vital to the niche blogger to have useful content that is related to the chosen niche.

Free Blog Hosting

Weblogs.us used to be a free blog hosting service. However due to popular demand, as one might expect, they had to stop accepting new blogs.
"We aren’t planning on accepting new Weblogs.us users anytime soon because we want to make sure our current bloggers have good performance. Since Weblogs.us is free and volunteer based we can’t take on additional users right now. Sorry!
The other company called Blogthing lets you do that as long as you allow them to use unobtrusive text ads to support their service.

Blog Rules

"The choice is simple. Be paralyzed with fear over the concept of open communications channels, or put a blog policy in place and start using these new media in a strategic way". These are the words of IBM Corporate Affairs Director Brian Doyle in Nancy Flynn's Blog Rules: A Business Guide to Managing Policy, Public Relations, and Legal Issues published in June 2006 by AMACOM American Management Association. Every day more businesses are using blogs to get closer to their customers. Their employees are using blogs to describe or even complain about those businesses. Many blogs are being used to influence politics on all levels.
